Some facts allow you to choose a subtype, which helps clarify the circumstances of the event.
For example, a death fact has subtypes such as "killed in action", "lost at sea", and "stillborn". Marriage facts have subtypes including "civil partnership", "common law", "customary marriage", "marriage by repute", and "clandestine". Birth facts have a "stillborn" subtype.
The subtype drop-down appears in the fact detail area when you select a fact that supports subtypes.
