If a place is not in Pedigree Forge’s built-in database, you can add it yourself. Once added, it will be recognised, suggested by auto-complete, and no longer shown in red.
Click the map-pin icon on the Action Bar to open the Places panel, then add the place there.
Tip — You can add an unrecognised place directly from any place field on the People panel using Ctrl+Y (or Edit > Add place to database). This is often the quickest method.
A few places can be entered by just their name, without a county, when there is one clearly dominant location — for example, "Paris" on its own implies Paris, France. If you meant a different Paris (such as Paris, Yorkshire), you would need to include the county.
For burials, the name of the cemetery is often more informative than the town in which it is located. Pedigree Forge recognises well-known cemeteries (particularly the "Magnificent Seven" of London) and shows the cemetery name rather than the locality on charts — for example, "Abney Park Cemetery" rather than "Stoke Newington, Middlesex".
