These items place a family chart in a report or book. The quickest way to add one of the project’s saved charts is from the Charts panel: select the chart and choose Add to report as chart or Add to report as single chart. Either item can also be added from the **Reports** panel, where it starts as a new chart for the current person, already on the page size the item needs (see below), and is edited in place.
Charts in reports are rendered at the same quality as when printed directly, including all styling and layout customisations.
A chart is designed on a landscape sheet and scaled down to the pages of the report, so its own page must be A3 or A4 landscape. Either size fits either item; the difference is only how large the chart is drawn before it is scaled.
Auto page size will not work in a report. With Size set to Auto in the chart’s Page panel, the chart makes its own page to fit the tree, whatever shape that turns out to be, and a page of arbitrary shape cannot be scaled onto the report’s pages without being shrunk to a strip or running off the page. Before adding a chart to a report, choose A3 or A4 landscape and use the chart width tools to bring the tree within it (see Chart width). The Add to report commands on the Charts panel will ask before adding a chart whose page will not fit.
